It took awhile, a lot longer than we had thought at the outset, but in June we completed on a bungalow in Benllech. In some ways, just because my general life has so totally changed, it has seemed like a bit of a whirlwind. In others, I wonder how a simple financial transaction – we had the the cash so no mortgage or chain involved – can have taken months from start to finish.
But we’re here. Two months down the line still sorting a few things out, and that is likely to go on for some time yet, but life starting to settle into a different rhythm. One often partially dictated by the tide table – when do we walk our dog down the beach, when do I try to go swimming – and the heatwave that seems finally to be coming to an end.
I had hoped to be getting fitter, and I may well just be a little but the improvements are so slight it’s difficult to tell. And more of my time seems to be taken up with day to day life as my partner’s general health, willingness to drive as she gets older or to engage with the contractors we need to do things, even walk the dog at the moment, seems to have lessened. I try to run, if we can call it that, three times a week, swim and do a short trip to the hills once and do various stretching and strengthening exercises, but frequently fail even in these modest attempts.
I keep trying to get a reset but this week has been one of those when it’s Thursday already, I’ve done plenty but little of it the stuff I would really like to be doing. I’m getting very bored with being an adult..
